Another similar jar is illustrated by Sir Michael Butler, et al., Seventeenth-Century Chinese Porcelain from the Butler Family Collection, Virginia, 1990, p. 107, no. 60, where the authors note "that pieces of this type were made for the Indian and Middle Eastern markets".
