A RARE FAMILLE VERTE MODEL OF A PALANQUIN
KANGXI PERIOD (1662-1722)
The stationary palanquin modelled as if supported by pierced rocks atop a rectangular base, with rectangular windows on both sides above pairs of loops to accomodate the carrying poles, the closed end with a cross bar at the top, the doorway at the other end revealing a couple seated in the interior with a teapot, small cups and rolls of cloth on the floor around them, the man holding a cup in one hand and a cloth in the other, all beneath an arched roof with a hole in the center, glazed on the biscuit in green, yellow and aubergine

Marchant & Son, London, 2005, p. 32, no. 19, where it is noted that another similar example is in the Copeland Collection, Salem, Massachusetts (part of the Peabody Essex Museum of Art).
