Lot Essay
See the exhibition catalogue, Imperial Porcelain of Late Qing: from the Kwan Collection, Chinese University of Hong Kong, 1983, pp. 24 and 28, where S. Kwan records a 'winecup decorated in wucai with narcissus flowers' included in the production list of the Imperial kiln for the twenty-sixth year of the Guangxu reign (corresponding to 1900). This falls into one of the categories of porcelain produced for award presentations. See a similar pair of wine cups sold at Sotheby's, Hong Kong, 15 May 1990, lot 271.
