Of flattened disc form moulded with two handles at the shoulders and with cylindrical neck and flared oval foot, applied with a thick, bluish flambé glaze ending in an undulating hem above the foot; foot pierced with two holes

Lot Essay

Popular in the later Choson period, Kainei wares originated from the northern kilns of Haenyong, Hamgyo ngpukdo beginning in the 17th century. They are characterized by thick bodies of coarse clay applied with an thick, opaque white glaze made from straw ash.
