A pair of similar stem bowls is illustrated by J. Ayers, The Baur Collection, vol. 3, Geneva, 1972, nos. A 418 and 419, where the author describes this type of decoration as being an imitation of that seen on early 15th century wares, such as the pear-shaped vase in the Baur Collection, illustrated in vol. 2, no. A 137.

See, also, the virtually identical Qianlong-marked stem bowl sold in our Hong Kong rooms, 30 October 2001, lot 838.
