With compressed globular body and tall neck flaring towards the rim, covered with a crackle-suffused glaze of crushed strawberry tone, with white rim and ivory-colored glaze on the interior

Lot Essay

A copper-red-glazed vase of similar shape, but of slightly larger size (16½ in. high), is illustrated in Collection of Chinese and Other Far Eastern Art, Yamanaka & Co., Inc., New York, 1943, no. 925, where it is described as langyao and dated to the Kangxi period.
