Opus One--Vintage 1991
Napa Valley
A wine of imposing stature. Color wise, evolution has been far kinder to this bottle than many other early '90s Napa bottlings. Slow to open; initial impressions of a slightly burnt (smoky?), decayed bouquet intertwined with floral and fruit extract; surprisingly, lingering oak aromas; sturdy, tannic frame incorporating red plum, cherry, blackberry fruits. Fresh. Finishes dry with grip. Another decade+. Tasted at
Christie's March 2003. ST
