A Gold Damascened Iron Stirrup
Tibet, Derge, circa 15th Century
The iron very finely and crisply worked in relief, the circular foot-rest with flower-heads between beaded edges joined by an arching strap with makara and foliate scrollwork, the broad top section with flanges flanking a rectangular cartouche with a snow lion motif surmounted by a strap loop, the details richly damascened in gold
