The arched mirror in an architectual surround with spread eagle cresting above an arched foliate decorated frieze, supported by tapering stiff leaf carved columns, labelled to the reverse 'P G BYLANDERS SPEGEL FABRIK ....Götheborg', the cream painted and simulated green marble console with a rosette and vine frieze supported by a pair of dolphins and backed by torcheres, triclinium and wheat sheaths

P.G Bylander was one of Sweden's most famous and successful mirror makers of the Empire period. Active in Gothenburg between 1810 and 1852, he supplied mirrors and console tables to many great houses in Southern and Western Sweden, including Skottorp, Sperlingsholm and Sternsund. The Nordislea Museum in Stockholm has several examples of his work.
