sugar-lift aquatint, 1947, on Pur Fil Marais, an extremely rare trial proof, a fine, black impression, signed in red crayon, inscribed Bon à Tirer pour 15 épreuves, before the unsigned edition on Montval, with wide margins, a small pin hole at the upper sheet corners, a small stain at the lower sheet edge, some soft creasing in the margins, otherwise in very good condition

Lot Essay

In her catalogue raisonné Brigitte Baer lists five trial proofs, four of which are printed on Pur Fil Marais, including the present impression, although she states that the inscription is at the lower right rather than the lower left, as is in fact the case.
