The design of this example is a little unorthodox at the corner junctions. The parrots too are a charming twist on the more usual peacock motifs, as seen here in the lateral borders. There are many examples such as page 84, Plate 96, A Guide to Greek Island Embroidery by Pauline Johnson, from the Dawkins Collection. See also page 87, Plate 7, Aegean Crossroads, Greek Island Embroideries in the Textile Museum by James Trilling.
