Lot Essay

We are grateful to Dr. David R. Marshall for suggesting the attribution to Codazzi from color transparencies (written communication, 13 February 2006). In his view the landscapes and buildings are likely by Codazzi and the figures are painted by another, unidentifiable hand; he dates the paintings to circa 1660.
