AN INDIAN DIAMOND AND RUBY INSET AND ENAMELLED PANELLED GOLD NECKLACE
PROBABLY JAIPUR, NORTH INDIA, 19TH CENTURY
Comprising eight rectangular panels each set with a central diamond surrounded by radiating rubies forming a flowerhead design, diamonds in the corners, the sides with red and white lobed designs, the underside of each enamelled with a central white roundel containing a bird or animal within foliage, the spandrels similar, the two end panels extruded at one side to form the clasp, the panels linked by five strands of small freshwater pearls
overall 16½in. (41cm.) long
