An early 19th-Century mahogany 'Duke of York' domestic medicine chest,
the lid with paper label for FISHER Chemist and Druggist No 76 New Bond Street LONDON, the compartmentalised central section housing five small bottles with ground stoppers and paper content labels, a ceramic pill tile, four long bottles with brass-capped corks, a white-metal double-ended measure and a silver funnel and handheld apothecary balance, with doors beneath front and back, the first opening to an upper galleried section housing bottles with ground stoppers, a drawer with boxwood container with dram and grain weights and a plaster iron, with two drawers in the lower section housing a glass mortar and pestle in one and two tin containers in the other, all drawers with bone knobs, the rear door to lower and upper galleried areas housing six bottles with ground stoppers, the case with brass carrying handles, a locking mechanism to the doors and hook and eye catches and a diamond-shaped escutcheon (missing) and key -- 26.7 x 23.5 x 20cm. (10½ x 9½ x 7 7/8in.)
