An early Victorian mahogany and brass-bound medicine chest,
with brass plaque for From Apothecaries Hall London, of rectangular trunk style, the interior with red velvet lining throughout and ruched velvet to the lid, the upper section with compartments housing four large and eight smaller bottles with ground stoppers (five with chamois covers) and paper content labels, with retaining rod to lower drawer containing six further bottles with ground stoppers and chamois covers, a tray holding apothecary handheld balance and weights and a lower level with other items including a paper packet of hair and inscribed Eleanor Mary. 1854, the case with two brass military carrying handles and escutcheon and key -- 23 x 30.4 x 12cm.
