A good early Victorian rosewood domestic medicine chest,
with ivorine plaque inscribed Savory & Moore, Chemists to the Queen, 136, New Bond Streets & 220, Regent Street London, of rectangular trunk style, the interior with red velvet lining throughout and ruched red velvet lining to the lid, and partitioned to house eleven bottles with ground stoppers and paper content labels surrounding nested trays, the first tray with handheld apothecary balance and weights and a spatula, the second with three small bottles with ground stoppers and hand-written paper content labels (two with chamois covers), two jars with white-metal lids and the chemist's paper content labels and a glass mortar and pestle, the lower level holding a variety of miscellaneous items including a paper pill box for James Cockle Surgeon - COMPOUND ANIBILIOUS PILLS, the case with brass recessed military handle engraved Major Gen.r Aitchison and brass eschuteon and key -- 14.5 x 26.5 x 14.5cm.
