A Victorian black leather pill case,
fitted to contain three ivory pill boxes labelled ALTERATIVE 1, APERIENT 2 and ASTRINGENT 3, the case with green plush lining and gilded monogram for VR surmounted by a crown; a small 18th-Century mahogany domestic medicine chest, trunk style, with red velvet lining to lid and fitted to house four bottles with ground stoppers and manuscript/printed content labels, the case with brass pull, key-hole and key -- 8.7 x 7.3 x 6.5cm. (3 3/8 x 2 7/8 x 5½in.); a late 19th-Century boxwood 'pill tower' with five screw sections labelled for Opium gr:1, James' P. gr:4., Calomel 2gr. Colocynth gr., Calomel 2 gr. and Quinine 1 gr; an 18th-Century handheld apothecary balance with silver pans and weights, contained in a shagreen-covered, plush-lined case with engraved brass lock and hook and eye catches; and a dosage/measuring glass contained in a black leather fitted case.
