A finely engineered exhibition standard 1/12 full size model of Dr Ernst Alban's 10 u.h.p. High Pressure Engine of 1838,
built by A. Walshaw, 1992, with single fluted pendulous oscillating cylinder approx. 5/8in. bore x 2in. stroke supported in bearings within the entablature which is itself raised on four tapered fluted columns. Further details include cylinder head stuffing box and oiler, marine type 'little' end, floor and outboard pedestal bearings to crankshaft with square end, flywheel, belt pulley for overhead mounted Watt-type governor linkage and valve and 'lift-off' eccentric driven feed pump. The engine, finished in dark blue and polished brightwork, is mounted on a red and white tiled arched plinth with underfloor exhaust and water pipework and delicate balustrading with wood capping -- 40.7 x 34.3cm. (16 x 13½in.) Brassbound glazed cover, photocopied plans and details from The High Pressure Steam Engine
