A finely engineered exhibition standard brass and ferrous metal model of a Maudsley-style single cylinder steeple engine,
built by A. Walshaw with cylinder approx. 5/8in. bore x 1½in. stroke raised on four square columns with arched upper sections with floor over and bridges supporting the crankshaft bearings, the outer mounted on an 'A' bracket. Other details include centrally mounted valve chest with separate steamways, eccentric rod, rocking lever and gear driven semi-rotary plug valve, gear driven Watt-type governor, linkage and valve, tapered connecting rods with roller guided crosshead, floor mounted air and feed water tanks, the pumps operated by crankshaft driven beams anchored at opposite ends to the pumps and spoked flywheel. The engine, finished in polished brightwork, is mounted on a marble plinth with wood base and domed glass cover -- 28cm. (11in.) high
