Lot Essay

These tables follow a design in Gillow's Estimate Sketch Books for a 'Rosewood Flower Stand with double round corner top Job No 3170 for Ferguson & Co July 1822, cost 2.12/-.4 1/4 d'. A pair of mahogany examples also attributed to the firm were sold from Thoresby Hall, Neward, Nottinghampshire, Sotheby's house sale, 31 May 1989, lot 179. A satinwood pair, with carved knees, was sold in these Rooms, the property of a Distinguished Private Collection, 22 April 1999, lot 127.
