Savigny-Les-Beaune, Aux Fournaux--Vintage 1996
Côte de Beaune, Simon Bize
In original carton
"Aged in 50 new oak (the most Bize believes he should use), the medium-to-dark ruby-colored Savigny-Les-Beaune Les Fourneaux (this word means kitchen range or industrial oven) displays deep, earthy, and blackberry aromas as well as a medium-to-full-bodied, silky, undeniably gorgeous personality. This tangy, lively (verging on crisp), and medium-to-full-bodied wine is ripe and plump, yet elegant. Asian spice drenched in cherry syrup with a dusting of minerals can be found in this flavorful wine. As long as Bize does not lose any of the copious fruit following bottling, its high acidity will remain a focus-giving and refreshing asset, not a liability. Projected maturity: 2000-2006." BH
