FICHET

The wines of terroir perfectionist Jean-Philippe Fichet almost always offer outstanding purity and transparency as they are always elegant, fine, understated and beautifully reflective of their underlying terroirs. Fichet virtually never blends vineyards as he can't bear to be party to the loss of the individuality and character of each site. Virtually everyone in Burgundy claims to hold terroir above all else but here is a Domaine where terroir is not only carefully preserved but it is indeed celebrated. In fact, in a move that is classic Fichet, he separately vinified and bottled his 98 Tessons from the almost unheard of yield of only 7 hl/ha and then decided it was so special, he bottled it only in magnums! With such microscopic yields, most domaines would have blended it with something else but not Fichet.

Meursault, Les Gruyaches vines neighbor Charmes and Fichet's were planted in 1918. On the other hand, Les Chevalieres, the more delicate of the two Meursaults represented here, come from stonier soils.
