ANDRE KIENTZLER
Andre Kientzler is a small fifth generation, family run domaine with a production of a scant 6,000 cases all from estate vines. His wines tend to miss the good press they deserve as Kientzler refuses to send wines on to Colmar when a certain critic is town, steadfastly insisting they accept the open invitation to taste at the winery. An outstanding producer throughout his entire range of wines, his particular pride are his grand crus with outstanding southerly exposures. Geisberg is the smallest of the three facing directly south, producing generously, ripe wines full of white peach and apricot. Kirchberg is somewhat larger with a south-west aspect, producing steely wines with pear and smoky flavors. Osterberg is the largest, facing east south-east and tends to be an elegant, mineral laden wine. The vines average from 40 to 50 years old and the house style leans toward the drier side.
