A ROMAN IRIDESCENT GLASS JUG
CIRCA 4TH CENTURY A.D.
The piriform body on ring foot, applied trail around neck, lower body with pinched ribs, strap handle applied at rim and shoulder; and a similar glass flask with aubergine streaks, the spherical body with pinched ribs, long neck with funnel-shaped mouth, on thick ring foot, iridescence, circa 4th Century A.D.
5½ in. (14 cm.) and 5 3/8 in. (13.6 cm.) high respectively (2)
Provenance
Formerly in a German private collection, acquired in the 1960s-1970s.
