FIRST HALF OF 1ST MILLENNIUM B.C. OR EARLIER, MEDITERRANEAN
Seated, with stippled fur over the back and deeply recessed eyes, arms and legs partially missing, repaired, mounted, 1¾ in. (4.3 cm.) high; an Achaemenid chalcedony recumbent bull amulet, pierced longitudinally, tip of horns chipped, circa 6th Century B.C.; a Mesopotamian black stone bear head amulet, with white hardstone inlaid eyes, circa 2500 B.C., both 1 in. (2.5 cm.) long; a Syrian cream limestone scaraboid seal, the base with a striding lion, pierced, 8th-7th Century B.C., ¾ in. (2 cm.) long; a Western Asiatic grey-green steatite stamp seal, the triangular base with antelope, palm frond and foliate motifs, pierced handle, 1 in. (2.5 cm.) high; a Sassanian style dark yellow stone stamp seal, ¾ in. (2 cm.) diam.; a Corinthian pottery krater, with later painted decoration, 5¼ in. (13.2 cm.) high; and seven other bronze, pottery and stone animals, comprising recumbent ram, two cows, two frogs and two lions, 4 in. (10 cm.) long max. (14)
