Lot Essay

Samuel Nixon (b.1803 d.1854) was employed on a number of public projects, including the commemorative Scottish granite statue of William IV on King William Street in the City, later removed to Greenwich. He also excuted numerous portrait busts for public buildings in London, aswell as private commissions, recorded mainly during 1830's and 40's.
