A MAHARAJA SEATED ON AN ELEPHANT, PROBABLY KOTAH, CIRCA 1780
Gouache heightened with gold on paper, the maharajah with a nimbus seated in the howdah on an elephant with a punkah wallah seated behind him, the mahout in front and a standard bearer walking beside them, on yellow ground, mounted, framed and glazed-miniature 11½ x 8½in. (29.2 x 21.6cm.)
