RARE FIRST EDITION OF THE FIRST ILLUSTRATED BOOK ON VIETNAM, by a Jesuit attached to the mission there. The whole of Libri III is devoted to Tumkino, with Libri V to the kingdom of the Lao. This popular work went into 10 editions by 1683. In the copy seen by Cordier the frontispiece is printed on red paper and the folding plate of the royal barge on yellow paper. Cordier Japonica 374.
