FIRST EDITION of this eventful journey during which Snow was dismissed following a disagreement with the South American Missionary Society's Falkland Islands agent; the above work relates the episode fully. Snow who in his earlier life 'led a wild, if not criminal life', (DNB) in Australia, worked as as Macaulay's secretary and volunteered for a Franklin search expedition. The present work gives much information on the natives, topography and natural history of the southernmost parts of South America and contains several references to Franklin.
