The estate also produces a highly regarded Barbera d'Alba Pistin, Barbera d'Alba Fornaci, Barolo Sotto il Castello, Nebbiolo d'Alba and a Dolcetto d'Alba. Ferruccio Grimaldi, is the winemaker for the Grimaldi estate. Grimaldi's Barolo Le Coste was first released with the 1996 vintage. The Grimaldi estate own vineyards which cover only 0.76 hectares in Barolo and annual production is very low at less than 400 cases which means that the wines are in serious demand and are sure to become collectors items. Grimaldi first produced their Nebbiolo d'Alba in 2000, which comes from their vineyard in the Valmaggiore region.

Barolo, La Coste--Vintage 1998
Piedmont. Grimaldi
Tasting Note: Grimaldi's 1998 Le Coste exhibits a dark garnet colour as well as a classic Barolo bouquet of melted road tar, rose petals, cherry syrup, tobacco, and spice box. Deep, textured, full-bodied, with sweet kirsch liqueur-like flavors infused with creosote/tar, and a moderately tannic finish, this old style, intense effort will drink well between 2003-2018. Robert Parker, Wine Advocate 137 (Oct 2001).
