Late 19th Century
With back, arms and seat decorated with a Renaissance hunting scene, the hinged panelled seat opening to reveal a storage space, above a relief-carved front decorated with cherubs, masks, egg-and-dart moulding and further panels, on grotesque-form feet

Lot Essay

Though adjoined with armrest and a seat back, as seen here, the cassapanca form undeniably evolved from traditional 16th century cassone models in both form and decoration.
