Each finely painted with a specimen orchid, named in Latin on the underside, the border richly gilt with pillars and rocaille trellis suspending flower-filled baskets, between gilt bands acid-etched with flowerheads and diamonds

Lot Essay

One of the present set of nine has an oval Museum/Archive and gilt foil sample label and is likely to be the same plate listed in the Lenox China Archives as Inv. no. 263, 47. In 1988 The Showroom Inventory lists a 'set of 10'. Nine of these were purchased in 1981 from Lorraine Stern. Design records note, 'special colour, Morley center 72 hrs.'
