This form of sideboard wine-cistern 'cellaret' was popularised by a pattern in A. Hepplewhite & Co.'s, Cabinet-Maker and Upholsterer's Guide, 1788 (pl. 37). A similar triple-banded cellaret was supplied in 1787 for Newhailes, Scotland by Messrs. Young and Trotter of Edinburgh (D. Jones, The Edinburgh Cabinet and Chair Makers' Books of Prices, Cupar, 2000, p.8, fig. 9).
