Michael Perchin (1860-1903), who became Fabergé's head goldsmith in 1886, is perhaps the most famous of Fabergé's workmasters. During his tenure with the firm he created many beautiful enamel and jeweled objects, as well as hardstone animals and objects similar to the present nephrite box. He is, of course, best known for his involvment in creating the Imperial Easter Eggs which he worked on from 1885 until his death in 1903.
