CIRCA 1800, BLUE CROSSED SWORDS ABOVE A STAR MARKS, VARIOUS INCISED MARKS, ONE CUP AND SAUCER WITH GILDER'S NUMERAL 126
In the neoclassical style, with elaborate gilding and egg and dart borders, with geometrical handles and panache finials, painted by Heinrich Gotthelf Schaufuss, comprising: a flaring teapot and cover, with two oval cartouches, of Danae, attendants and Jupiter disguised as a shower of gold, the other of Cupid among clouds, inscribed to the base d'apres l'original de van Dijk dans la Gallerie Royale à Dresde, 13.2 cm. high, a cup and two saucers, the cup with a cherub within an oval cartouche, inscribed to the base d'après l'original de Raphael dans la Gallerie Royale à Dresde (shallow chip to top of handle), a sugar-bowl and cover, with two oval cartouches, one with billing doves and one with Cupid shapening arrows, inscribed to the base with d'après l'original de Mengs dans la Gallerie Royale à Dresde, a pair of spoons, each painted with a trophy, 13.3 cm. long (some patches of wear to gilding throughout) (9)

Heinrich Gothelff Schaufuss (1770-1838) was a fine Bataillenmalerei painter, and he was also reknowned for copying paintings in the Gemäldegalerie, Dresden.
