Lot Essay

See A. den Blaauwen, Loosdrechts Porselein 1774-1784, Zwolle, 1988, p. 68 and cat. no. 16, 19 and 201. The insects and spiders on these objects are painted with great entomologic understanding and are clearly by the same hand as those on this peach-shaped box.
