Lot Essay

See Scholten, 2000, p.108 for a description of the four Ansbach models of desk sets decorated in The Hague, in which the author mentions this luxury version of which only one surviving object is known, displayed on the exhibition in the Gemeentemuseum, The Hague in 1965. See Jansen, 1965, p.22, cat. no.42, form no.69, on loan from Mr. I.S. de Vries, Amsterdam. This is the desk set currently in the Buisman collection.
