Dr. H.-U. Beck has confirmed the attribution on the basis of photographs. He has suggested that the picture is to be dated to 1650-1657. Stylistically, it is comparable to the painting signed and dated 1657 in the Nationalmuseum, Stockholm (H.-U. Beck, Künstler um Jan Van Goyen, Doornspijk, 1991, p. 288, no. 795, illustrated).
