The Royal cypher is that of Ernst Augustus, King of Hanover, Duke of Cumberland.

Ernst Augustus, fifth son of George III, inherited the throne of Hanover in 1837 on the succession of Victoria to the throne of England, as under Salic law a woman could not rule Hanover. He brought much royal silver with him to Hanover, and had it engraved "EA Fs," for "Ernst Augustus Fidekommis," meaning the silver was his entailed property (and did not belong to Victoria). This tea service has "EA Fs" engraved on it as well as his Royal cypher and crown.
