Lot Essay

Accompanied by Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming production of the present watch in 1970 and its subsequent sale on 9 June 1970. It has never been offered at auction before and is thought to be one of a series of less than 30 examples of reference 570 in white gold known to have appeared in public to date.

The large Calatrava model reference 570 was introduced into the market in 1938, featuring either subsidiary or sweep centre seconds.

The sweep centre seconds version was produced in two series: the first fitted with a 12 SC movement was in production until 1950, the second with calibre 27 SC, such as the present watch, from 1950 until 1970.
