Lot Essay

Accompanied by Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming production of the present watch with applied gold hour markers and tachometre scale in 1952 and its subsequent sale on 5 November 1952. Furthermore delivered with a copy of the invoice from Wempe Hamburg dated 7 October 2005 amounting to Euro 2,942 for the complete overhaul of the watch at Patek Philippe, Geneva. It has never been offered in public before.

The present watch is one of only ten examples of reference 530 in pink gold ever to appear in public and probably the only one with a champagne dial.

The chronograph wristwatch reference 530 with 13''' movement was launched in 1937. It is not only one of the rarest chronograph models produced by Patek Philippe, but also the largest in size. Compared with the otherwise similar reference 130, its diameter is larger by an impressive 4 mm. The model is illustrated in Patek Philippe Wristwatches by Martin Huber & Alan Banbery, second edition, p. 265.
