The nickel-finished fully jewelled lever movement stamped with the viper's head, Guillaume balance with gold poising screws, hinged gold cuvette, the engine-turned silvered dial with Roman numerals on blank chapter ring, blued steel Breguet hands, subsidiary seconds, in circular yellow gold case with coin-edged band, white gold rim to the bezel, white gold bow, the yellow gold snap on back with white gold rim and centred by a circular white gold cartouche and white gold initials PM, case and cuvette numbered, dial and movement signed and numbered

Lot Essay

Accompanied by Observatoire National de Besançon Première Classe d'Epreuves Bulletin de Marche du Chronomètre de Poche No. 3051 dated 11 February 1938, Breguet Certificat No. 4048 dated 14 April 1991 and original fitted Breguet Paris brown leather presentation box numbered 3051.

The present watch participated at the 18 December 1937 and 8 February 1938 Besançon Observatory Pocket Chronometer Contests where it obtained a First Class Rating Certificate and Gold Medal with a total of 153 points.

Its movement is stamped with the "Viper's Head", the symbol used by the Besançon Observatory to mark movements which had successfully passed the chronometer tests.
