With gilt-finished ruby cylinder movement, plain three arm brass balance with parachute on the top pivot, blued steel flat balance spring with bimetallic compensation curb on the regulator, à toc quarter repeating, gold cuvette, the white enamel dial with Breguet numerals, blued steel Breguet hands, secret signature No. 1824 Breguet below 12 o'clock, signature Breguet et Fils below 6 o'clock, in circular engine-turned case, quarter repeating through the pendant, case numbered B1824 and 776, cuvette and dial signed and numbered

Lot Essay

According to the Archives of Montres Breguet, the present watch with case number 776 made by Gros was sold on 30 April 1807 by Mr. Moreau to Mr. Leduc for the amount of 1,240 Francs.

Lazare Moreau, nicknamed "Zarenne", was in charge of Breguet's branch in Russia which he called "Maison de Russie". He mainly supplied "perpétuelle" or self-winding, "souscription", repeating and à tact watches as well as various carriage clocks to the flourishing Russian market.
