The circular moulded top above a cabled fluted column with foliate swags, on a moulded circular base raised on a square plinth, weathered, one with recess to top.

Lot Essay

Designed in the goût Grec style first introduced in the mid-1750's by the architect Louis-Joseph Le Lorrain, these pedestals reflect the direct influence of the designs of the celebrated architect and ornameniste Jean-Charles Delafosse (1734-1791), as seen through his publication Nouvelle Iconologie Historique, 1770, vol. I, fig 92
