This tapestry is based on the 1945 painting The Cocktail-Drinker by Max Ernst (Spies, Werke 1939-1953, no. 2499; coll. Nordrhein-Westfalen, Düsseldorf). It was a collaborative work woven by Yvette Cauquil-Prince under the supervision of Max Ernst.
