Purchased from new by the vendor. A Type 1 lens with black-crackle finish numbered 100640 was sold in Leica, Nikon and 35mm Cameras, 14 June 2005, lot 164. Koch suggests that the Type 2 with the grey- crackle finish was manufactured from 1959-1963 serial serial 100642-100680
