This camera incorporates W. J. Stillman's patent number 3069 of 14 November 1871 for a swinging and tilting focusing back which George Hare used on his New Universal camera of 1871. The Maharajah camera sold in British Cameras 1840-1960. The Jim Barron Collection, 11 December 2002 incorporated the same patent back which at that time was the only example of the back known to Jim Barron.
