Each piece in the George II style, the rims or shoulders engraved with bands of strapwork and portrait bust motifs, comprising: a kettle-on-stand with burner; a kettle stand; a teapot; a hot-water jug; a coffee-pot; a cream-jug; a milk-jug and two sugar-bowls, each engraved with an initial 'M' below a Royal Princess' coronet, each piece fully marked and engraved with various inventory numbers, with a letter printed with the Royal Arms and the legend 'Sandringham Norfolk', inscribed by Queen Mary 'Darling Margaret, I wish you many happy returns of your birthday... a piece of silver to be added to the tea set I am giving you by degrees for birthdays + for Christmas... Wish best love to you and Lilibet, Ever your devoted Grannie Mary.' dated '19th Aug't 1939'
