Lot Essay

These 1937 Coronation chairs, conceived in the seventeenth century 'back-stool' fashion, were manufactured by firms such as B. North & Sons of West Wycombe, and Messrs. Hands & Sons Ltd. The chairs are often stamped on the seat-rail with the cabinet-workshop's name, however, as this chair retains its original webbing and the handwritten label, it has been left undisturbed.
