MARK OF DEAKIN AND FRANCIS, BIRMINGHAM, 1956
Oblong and on four stepped feet, the hinged cover engraved with three figures within a pediment and surrounded by an inscription, the interior part velvet lined, marked on side and inside cover, the base further engraved 'R&W Sorley Glasgow'
9 7/8 in. (25 cm.) wide
The inscription reads 'THE CITY'S FREEDOM PURCHAS'D WAS BY ME SINCE THAN BE SO THEN I WAS BORN FREE THEN I'M FREE BORN & OF ANTIQUITIE.'
